Short courses
The chapter’s primary standing activity is sponsoring AVS short courses for the region, typically scheduled in late fall or spring when there’s enough local interest. Any course from AVS’s national short course program can be adapted to address local, regional needs — the chapter’s role is to bring the instructor and the course to the Tennessee Valley.

There’s no fixed annual calendar yet — chapter activity runs on member interest and volunteer effort. If you’d like to:
- propose or host a short course in your area,
- organize a regional meetup, seminar, or student poster session, or
- co-sponsor an event with your institution, division, or technical group,
reach out to the chapter officers or use the Contact page.
Beyond the chapter
Chapter membership also gives you access to AVS’s national Meetings & Exhibits, including the annual AVS International Symposium, and to programming from AVS’s technical divisions and groups.
